Our story
We launched Volante in 2001, in the aftermath of 9/11 and the dot-com crash. It wasn’t the best time to start a new fintech, but where others saw risk, we saw opportunity.
Realizing that financial businesses could only survive if they were free to evolve through rapid innovation, we made it our mission to serve as their trusted partner, providing them with technology to eliminate legacy limitations and accelerate financial application development.
The platform we created would today be described as “low-code” and “cloud-native” but those buzzwords didn’t exist then. The need for the technology did however, so we quickly signed some of the world’s largest financial businesses as customers.
We are very proud that the customers who trusted us from the beginning are still with us today.

The payments connection
A few years ago, we noticed our customers were using our low-code platform to process payments. Why? Their legacy systems were hard to maintain. They could not handle ISO 20022, real-time payments, or APIs. And they were not cloud-ready.
To free our customers from these limitations, we launched a cloud-native payments platform and soon became recognized as a payments modernization leader. We processed the first US real-time payment, and the first instant payment in Saudi Arabia. Our Payments as a Service processed the first SEPA payment in the cloud. We powered the launch of the first cloud transaction bank.
Today, over 150 customers worldwide trust Volante, including four of the top five global corporate banks, seven top-ten US banks, and two of the world’s largest card networks. Our solutions are mission-critical. We power entire economies.
Looking ahead
We’re only getting started. Many countries have yet to embark on their cloud journey. Many payment types are not yet real-time or ISO 20022 compatible. There is vast unmet demand for API-based payments and Banking as a Service solutions. The potential of payments data remains largely untapped.
Crucially, nearly two billion people lack access to banking services. As the world moves towards increasing digitalization, we believe that technology providers must lead the way in helping financial businesses serve the broadest possible spectrum of customers.
By staying true to our mission, we can extend the benefits of Volante’s solutions to every corner of the world, and champion financial inclusion for all.
